The New York Times published an interesting article on March 30, 2012, concerning the monitoring by universities of their athletes' social media sites. With several businesses offering universities and colleges a social media monitoring service, the question of privacy becomes an important issue. The NCAA recently came down hard on North Carolina's football program based on one of its players' tweets. The article describes a large grey area as universities are expected to monitor their athletes, yet there is an apparent invasion of privacy and carries legal implications with regards to constitutionality. So how far is too far?
